ABOUT M.E.S.
Mende Engineering Solutions, LLC was started by JoAn Kutylowski Mende, PE, in 2005. After gaining roughly 25 years’ experience in the corporate architecture and engineering world, JoAn broke off on her own and started M.E.S.
Mende Engineering Solutions was created with the intent to offer engineering services to a wide range of clients, especially those who require a more flexible and personalized design experience than the corporate environment typically allows.
Since 2005, M.E.S. has completed numerous renovation and design-build projects where construction costs ranged from $50,000 to $4.5MM. M.E.S. has executed design projects for a multitude of industries across the board: Health Care, Event Centers, Schools, Light Manufacturing, Etc.
Meet JoAn
JoAn is a licensed professional engineer responsible for corporate management, business development, and total project design. Her expertise is in providing building owners or facility managers with options and budgets for viable mechanical systems for the built environment. Her specialty is designing efficient building systems including HVAC and plumbing systems, energy modeling, facility operations and on-site construction management. She has completed projects from schematic design through construction follow-up in numerous school districts, as well as in medical, commercial, religious, and retail facilities.
Education – BS, Mechanical Engineering, University of Michigan, Dearborn (1981)
Licensed Engineer in the State of Michigan, with reciprocity status in multiple states through NCEES
Outside of Work
JoAn is a wife and mother to four (and has two sons-in-law).
She enjoys travelling to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to view the Great Lakes freighter activity, downhill skiing, gardening, and enjoys making and canning a variety of foods which are thoroughly enjoyed by her friends and family. Throw in a spirited political debate and you’ve got the complete picture.
Meet Elizabeth
Elizabeth is a Mechanical Engineer by profession, specializing in the design of mechanical systems, construction management, construction safety, and project management. With over 8 years of experience, she has completed projects in multiple industries; from schematic design through construction completion. She is adept at modeling HVAC load calculations using computer software programs and developing building and mechanical plans using the latest AutoCAD software. Her exceptional communication and organizational skills, along with her focused scheduling abilities, help provide a streamlined approach to projects with unique/aggressive timelines.
Education – BS, Mechanical Engineering, Kettering University, Flint, MI (2016)
Outside of Work
In her spare time, Elizabeth can be found hiking, mountain biking, skiing, or ice fishing with her husband; of course, depending on the season. She is usually halfway into a good book, loves baking, and is always ready to try the newest craft or furniture renovation found on Pinterest.
